Re: Breakup
May turn out to be for the best. Hope that Slr production will continue and that when itr does go a replacement model can be made for the sake of those that work there. Am shore Mclare will come outof this fine that kind of talent cant be kept down.

It all depends what 'split' means!
If its total it will be a long drawn out process, they own 40% of Mclaren, and help fund the Technology center. If its just the road car side, then good fuck merc, they ruined the SLR and forced Gordan Murray out. He is the reason Mclaren cars andprobably the F1 team are where they are now! Although there is clauses (in the current contract) making it impossible to work with and other manufacturer apart from merc. |

The article is misleading in that it claims McLaren and Merc are discontinuing their business partnership. Considering Merc have just spent £200 million on MTC does anyone really think they're going to throw it away?
The second part is correct in that P8 and beyond were suspended indefinitely. |

P8 hasnt been suspended indefinatly now. It isnt being built full stop.
P7-R is now the new project underway. Yes thats a SLR Racing! Wheather it goes racing is another question, but it will be lighter and quicker etc for customers. Maybe the way it should have been built in the first place! |

Methinks you guys are going to have to be even more careful with your layups since you won't have any carpet covering everything

Re: Breakup
This is not very good news for Mclaren, I personally dont think much about MB but I'm sure it was providing much needed capital for Mclaren to function... Hopefully Mclaren will now be bought by an independant investor who can further the company independantly rather than being in collobration with another firm? we can only hope...
