Re: 505 hp Corvette Z06 pricing and what not

Jag you forgot that you can heat your oil before you drive the car with a dry sump.

I have been kicking around the idea for my next engine, I am weighing the cost of the pumps at can get very high in cost.

I'm sure this beast has some sort of NASCAR type pump that wil last a long time and still be able to eat parts of engine if it comes down the pipe.

I wonder how that ummm well is it a unibody lol well what ever you call it I wonder how it will take some wrecks, can it be fixed or is it parts?

Love to see a ma and pa auto body place get this car after frame damage.lol

Maybe you will need hot glue and alum. to fix it?

Cool car tho, I hope it beats the snot out of it's class with the imports.

I'm trying to find accident repair information on the new Z06, but it isn't as though the new Z06 is one of the only cars under $100,000 going into relatively uncharted waters. For example, aluminum underbody components are fastened together with aerospace-grade epoxy adhesives and some 3,200 self-piercing rivets to create the new Jaguar XJ's chassis. The new Jaguar XK's aluminum chassis is more advanced than the XJ's.

This may sound stupid, but is that a real engine? It looks like a mock up, the belts looks real enough but take a goo look at the TB...

It might be a cut-a-way Z06 like the one shown at the 2005 Detroit auto show where the new Z06 was first shown to the public.

I has to be, looking at it more you can see that the bolts and butterfly shaft are all the same color, some bolts can be seen but it's for the other plastic parts to bolt on, this has to be a mock up block...

I love the Z06. I'm a hard core import guy, but I still recognize true "art" when I see it...dry sump oiling (which this thread went WAY in depth in...I knew it already but very good for the noob...very cool), tasteful weight reduction, handbuilt engine with some tasty forged internals from the factory...very, very cool. I'd love to drive one.

The new LS7's forged steel crankshaft has six-bolt main bearings. A high-profile camshaft offers a higher lift than any other
GM small-block.

The new Z06's has industry’s first magnesium structural chassis component, the engine cradle. It provides a 30 to 35 % weight savings versus the original aluminum design. It weighs 23.92 pounds.
