are jetta's really that bad?

ive been looking for a new car and i have an eclipse and i used to have a jetta and i loved it and i want another one. i had a 94 gl and i was looking to upgrade to a vr6 or a gls. is the vr6 that much faster than the gls? i plan on installing some bolt on's and maybe even a turbo. should i go with a gls or vr6? i found a couple for around $3000. i have heard that they were terriblecars and no to buy but i did my own research and the main problems are windows and occasionally clutch. is their anything else i should be aware of? and should i go with a gls or vr6? or should i move on to perhaps a civic or something else? i need help!!!

Re: are jetta's really that bad?

I own a VR6 2000 Jetta and it works fine for me, it pulls pretty good. But it's true the clutch can get a little sticky. Besides that I wouldn't advise against it.

Looking to put turbo in mine as well but the VR6 turbo kits are pricey.
