Re: Quiz time....with rewards.

Sorry Guys you loose

Its a Mk2 Astra Hazard light switch.

(The joys of ebay )

However, as you're probably aware the Rear Fog light switch on the Astra is nothing like the one on the F1.

But if you were to change the picture on the front of the switch it could possibly be used to turn on a rear fog.

Le Man has told me thats correct. Yes I was sad enough to put "Vauxhall Hazard switch" into eBay

Re: Quiz time....with rewards.

The "throttle cable shroud" is actually not that at all. What they have pictured is the steering column. Gordon holds it up in the very beginning of the second segment of "The Car's the Star" talking about the tremendously low weight of that and the steering shaft combined.

The two smaller pieces in the photo are the covers for the two stalks behind the steering wheel for lights and wipers that mount to the end of the column.

Here's pics of the smaller pieces courtest of Mr Hurst:

Re: Quiz time....with rewards.

It took me quite a while to find any decent reference shots of the steering column. For the next person who gets their hands on an F1 with open access for photos, the entire area around and under the steering wheel is really lacking in photographic content. People take pics of the steering wheel itself all the time, but the other stuff seems to get overlooked, including by me.

Here was the best I could come up with. The first shot was courtesy of drewwtms from SEMA last year.

Here's a wider shot showing the steering column and the throttle cable shroud together.

Re: Quiz time....with rewards.

Well done Erik,

Very well documented answer. But as you are the moderator of this forum and a dedicated F1 historian. You are disqualified from this competition

So I guess you feel a bit

Only joking, your prize is on its way
