Re: The definitive 16R thread

Bit of an oddball question to you 16R, as the car is obviously on roadgoing tyres what pressures are you running front and rear?

Re: The definitive 16R thread

Peloton that is an awesome photo...I need to go back to my own 35 mm from 96 and see if I have anything. Started the old girl up today but too slippery to take her out...mclaren came out and fitted a new road car battery and charger so she's starting in the button :-)

No idea what the tyre pressures are, it's never been away from the factory long enough to need to check!

Hope you find some shots of your own collection. It would be superb to see them!
Well, patient patient, the weather is improving when the spring comes. So I think we all can wait your feelings of the car, when weather gets better. No hurry with this, no one doesn't want to slide car like that.

I wouldn't mind doing a little photo retouching of the small marks in the image if you'd like to have a copy that would be suitable for printing and framing?

Here's an example of one I cleaned up previously - before & after - click to enlarge:

Re: The definitive 16R thread

I will contribute all the pics I can.

#016R

Any other pics you can take and share will be greatly appreciated as well, thanks in advance.

By the way, is 16R's engine de-restricted, and has its' current output been measured?

Also I read your comments about cabin heat problems requiring the doors to be opened several times during the run to Le Mans. I was wondering if the factory offered some sort of cabin cooling or A/C system to be fitted during the road conversion. If this option was offered and it's not too rude or intrusive to enquire, what are your reasons for not having it fitted? It it is weight-related, how much would the weight penalty have been?

Again my apologies if my questions are too intrusive or in violation of any McLaren privacy policies. Thanks again sir.

Re: The definitive 16R thread

Thanks for the great shots...the questions are not intrusive but i didnt commission the road conversion. The car is fine on the move but once you stop in traffic when the fans kick in a lot of that heat gets blown into the cabin hence the door technique! Mclaren have never mentioned that there is even the option of retro fitting a/c, i probably wouldnt anyway because the car is as close to original spec as you can get for instance it still has the airjacks fitted, if i cared about weight as a prime concern those would be gone, but at the end of the day its a race car...if i wanted everyday usability i'd have bought the road car instead...

Question is, what's the chassis #?

I think the one in the pictures is the one that had the reg. plate "M66 MCL" at some point. Clues: three vents on front fenders, rear wheel arches (lip), fuel hatches, drivers seat neck rest color and the silver rivets on the rear wing. Or did I miss something?

Yes, I would vote #14R/'M66 MCL' as well.

Re: The definitive 16R thread

thanks! For the interest of the forum the car is now on an age related UK plate (N276JBK for the spotters amongst you!) and the drivers seat shown in these photos has been retrimmed in Black and Orange leather with "daytona" cut-outs. It will be interesting to see who gets a photo of that first!

Re: The definitive 16R thread

Interesting to hear about the plate - of course the car has worn this one previously:
