Re: The McLaren F1 Owner's Club

I can not stress enough what an honor this has been for me. I will have more to say on this subject later when I can collect my thoughts. I do know and appreciate just how fortunate I am to be here this week. A true and amazing gift from Ray Bellm.

No cars are here from the factory except the 12Cs.

They are all F1 road cars or road converted GTRs. I will share the full list of participating chassis when the event has completed. Many cars arrive from very far away.

Kidston shared some photos. Great to see 05R back in action.

Is the white one with the wing on picture 6 #053?

Re: The McLaren F1 Owner's Club

Two quick questions:

What's the deal with white one with the red air scoop (the WaZzZuPpP suggests is 053)? It looks very interesting, I've never seen that colour scheme before...

Also,
In the picture of 'the XP' - it's XP4 right? The (ex) New Zealand one? And do you think the New Zealand-based 018 is the car with the OZ wheels behind it? It looks the right colour, and there aren't many that wear those wheels right...?

Your replies on these questions appreciated!
Cheers

Re: The McLaren F1 Owner's Club

XP4, yes, and from the new pics uploaded you can see clearly its 018 too, and 009 is there, so cars from all over the place, which is great.
About the white one, they were pics of a white one on a plane, apparently headed to the Middle East, the picture is low-res but the license plate looks arabic I think? And that white/red combination - Bahrain?

Re: The McLaren F1 Owner's Club

The white one that was in the plane is not the same as the white one on the Tour. The white one on the Tour is in its new guise having and is USA-owned

Re: The McLaren F1 Owner's Club

I take it the white and red one is the 'special' one that was talked about a few weeks back? Certainly looks interesting though I'm not sure about the new rear lights treatment.

Glad to see #05R out and about, especially now it's road registered and also nice to see #12R wearing more of it's full racing livery as opposed to just the Gulf livery, looks much better that way.

In any case though, wow. All those F1's together in perhaps the most beautiful area of the world. To be punting an F1 around Swiss Alp passes in convoy is basically heaven.

There are a few people on this forum that through constant enthusiasm, positive contributions and insight ought to be on the trip.

However, if there's one person to be 'singled out' to make the trip; through steering this forum relentlessly and professionally over the years, Erik unquestionably deserves to be there. Well done, Erik.

A closer look at the white/red one. I'm not really a fan.

White one definitely isn't my taste. I wonder where he got the taillights from. McLaren F1 has a very cool start up sound in the video.

The owner has been very kind. I was told he has other cars in his collection that match the spec on his F1. It is the most unique car there is an will elicit many different reactions - I just hope the people here who do not prefer it will at least be polite with their comments as the owner is very pleased with the car and that is what matters the most.

As much as I am honored to be here in Italy, I am even more honored and humbled by those words Murray. Thank you, thank you. :-)
