Re: Monterey 2011 - will P25 find a McLaren F1?
I just said hello to Derek Bell as he was arriving at his hotel. Brief but very cool moment.
This afternoon I spent a few hours in the McLaren tent at Pebble. No F1, but a special 12C that is not the GT3. Pics tomorrow. Rumors of other F1s lurking or coming to town with certain owners. If I can confirm any or actually find them I will share. >8^) ER |

Re: Monterey 2011 - will P25 find (another) McLaren F1?
Sleep is over-rated, right?
Here are the first 6 of my pics off the camera. Sharp eyed viewers will notice that I made an accidental cameo appearance in one of them. I took about 60 pictures in total which probably isn't nearly as many as I might have wanted to, but it was because I spent a lot of time talking with the car's owner instead. A real pleasure, in fact. When I arrived at his house, within about 5 minutes a group of guys came walking down the driveway hoping to get a look at the F1 and the owner kindly welcomed them in too. It turned out that they were Ian Jones, Noah and Gideon Gillard and one other guy who was tagging along. I know Ian because we live in a similar area and have bumped into each other in the past. Imagine his surprise when he came to see an F1 and found me standing next to it. I had not met Noah or Gideon before but am quite familiar with their photos from Flickr. I had another friend coming - Stephan Bauer - whose photos you guys are also probably familiar with and he showed up about 10 minutes after that. All told there were 5 cameras going in the driveway while the car was opened - 4 of them better than mine and in better hands I think - so I hope the other guys can make up for my slack. I suspect I will probably see the car again at least one more time before it goes too and it will hopefully be in a different setting then just to offer a little more variety. Enjoy and I truly wish you all could be here with me. >8^) ER |

Congrats mon ami!
Tres bien. Glad to see that you finally got to see it. You deserve it! Props for the 3rd pic of your small set. Loving the angle, or rather the frame in that angle. Really hope that you will see more. Can't wait to see the shots from the other guys. BTW, don't forget to enjoy all the other cars at this fabulous, uniqe automotive weekend. Cheers, Buc |

Re: Monterey 2011 - will P25 find (another) McLaren F1?
Oh - most definitely on that last comment.
Walking the short distance from where I parked at Pebble to the house where the F1 lives I was passed by an Aston DB4 Zagato. Earlier that morning I was on the Pebble Tour route and had a 250 GTO run past me at speed which sounded incredible. We found another silver GTO in the bottom of one of the garages and just a few spaces away was a Cobra Daytona Coupe. Last night we found 7 Veyrons including an SS in blue carbon parked together on Cannery Row. We arrived about 15 minutes before the all were fired up and left together for another portion of their drive. Most will know that I'm not a huge Veyron fan, but sights and sounds like that are impressive and hard to ignore. I think the most wild sighting for me so far though would have to be the 1955 Mercedes Benz Transporter parked in downtown Carmel on the curb outside some shops with an SL perched on the back. It was totally unexpected and something I have always had a soft spot for. I would have stopped immediately in my tracks, but that was the point when I was headed to see the F1. Last night I made the comment that you could just pick one place to stand for the 4 days and be guaranteed to be wowed by something at least every 10 minutes. It is just CRAZY. I found out that I missed the F50 GT1 and the new grey Carbon Zonda R at the Jet Center party that was Wednesday night. Hopefully they'll also be at Concorso this morning. That darn GT1 has alluded my grasp since it came to the USA and I would be equally thrilled to see that as I would another F1. >8^) ER |

Re: Monterey 2011 - will P25 find (another) McLaren F1?
Just checked the F50 GT1 off my bucket list at Concorso Italiano sandwiched between a pair of standard F50s. WOW!
The owner fired it up while I was standing there. DOUBLE WOW!! Brian Zuk will have a video of this. Said hello to Valentino Balboni as well. Headed to the McLaren tent at Pebble now for what should be a productive discussion with Paul Mackenzie - head of the new group that oversees the former Customer Care Dept. >8^) ER |
