Re: replaced intake gaskets now timing is off
My best old time friend lives in the Hill. Something not synched in the cams to crank timing, the crank and cam sensors pick this up.

Re: replaced intake gaskets now timing is off
I don't know of any code that says your timing is off....what is the actual code?
Does the car start? Does the car have any problems running? Is the only problem the CE light? Like I said, what is the code? You did put the push rods back correctly? Exhaust are longer....nothing you did, has anything to do with timing, unless the problem was there BEFORE you did the job.... |

Re: replaced intake gaskets now timing is off
Ok I want to thank everybody for your help, prior to doing the intake gaskets the only issue I had with the car which is a 03 Monte Carlo, I was having an overheating problem that's why I change the intake gaskets and they were compromised.
When doing this I made sure all the pushrods went back in the same spot were they came from. When starting the engine after doing intake gaskets it started to backfire couldn't keep it idled check engine light came on. I had my buddy bring his scanner over and checked the car and it came up timing has been moved. My buddy is coming over tonight and we're going to put scanner back on and I will update with what codes and what it's says. Upon doing this project I did have to remove the harness from the camshaft sensor and it was put back on. And by the way I do not have an overheating issue anymore. the engine is a SFI 3.4 |

Re: replaced intake gaskets now timing is off
If you had to remove the injector connectors and the spark plug wires, I would double check to make sure they are all connected in the right place. The spark plug wire numbers on top of the ignition coils could even be incorrect. Also, it is easy to get an injector connector in the wrong place if you're not careful. I would double check those.
