Rolls vs. Bentley vs. Maybach
Well, it`s not a practical thread for many of us. I think I will never have a superluxe car in my life. But there are a few "persons" for whom it`s an interesting topic. For example, my friend`s boss is going to buy a new R_R Phantom. There will be a dealer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in Moscow.
And what will u buy if you`re so V.I.P. like this person? P.S.My friend`s boss is not quite sure to buy R-R, maybe Bentley (he doesn`t like Maybach b/c it`s "a big s-class"). P.P.S. Excuse my pure (sorry, poor!) English. |

It will be an interesting contest between the three ultra-luxury marques. Bentley has a strong advantage in that they are the most performance-oriented, and the trend in high-end automobiles for many decades has been an increasing emphasis on performance to justify the expense. Back in the 20s and into the 30s, the most expensive cars were predominantly luxury ones (Isotta Fraschini, Rolls-Royce, Hispano-Suiza). Today's top end cars are usually more performance-oriented, with varying degrees of luxury and comfort.
Maybach's card seems to be opulent interiors, along with innovative amenities and add-ons. It's too early to say exactly where BMW will take Rolls-Royce. I don't know if the 100EX concept was meant to be a serious prototype, or a testbed for a lot of different ideas. I believe all three companies are doing well at the moment. The competition will probably help all of them, as it focuses popular attention towards these marques once again. For decades, the Rolls-Royce/Bentley group tended to be a little in the shadow of cars like Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini in terms of media coverage and popular aspiration.

Re: Rolls vs. Bentley vs. Maybach
Common people!! Maybach's are very nice, I would either have a Maybach or a Phantom over any Bentley, well maybe not the new continental gt. But definetely Maybach.

I would rater have a Mayabch 62 then a Bently Arnage, and then a Rolls-Royce Phantom. the Maybach has all those gadgets and things that the others dont have. like the semi transparent skylight that can make artificial daylight or can cut out all skylight. and the automatic curtain on the rear window. and the reclining rear seats? AWESOME!

The Bently. Definatly. I like to drive, and not be driven, and as RR's are the cars to be driven ion, and Bentlys the cars to drive, then thats the choice for me.
I admire the Maybach for it technology, but its just not practical. I think that even the 57 is a bit too much to drive everyday.

Actually, I'd love a 2003 Cadillac Sixteen. Yes, I know it is only a concept, but I'd still love it.
