Amp wiring

So my girlfriend has an 04 civic, she got a pair of 12"s in a bandpass box, She has the stock head unit. would it be a bad idea to hook an amp up to the speaker wires using the high level input? Her friend told her that she had her system hooked up that way and it messed up her car. I dont think it could mess up your electrical system in a civic, could it?

Re: Amp wiring

as long as the amp has speaker level inputs it would be ok. or you could get a high to low level converter and use the rcas.

Re: Amp wiring

She would be better off just getting an aftermarket head unit and hooking it up that way. Dosn't have to be anything great, just something with RCA's.

Agreed. Subs don't sound as good using a stock head.

It's an '04 Civic...I would bet any head unit over $50 is going to be better than whatever is in it stock.
