Iridium Vs Platinum Spark plugs?
I just want to know what plugs are better. The NGK iridium or the NGK double platinum (OEM).
Thanks, Geoff. |

I took your advise and purchased the bosch platinum +4. I like the power they can produce, but I am also seeing a decrease in gas milage. Before with my old NGK double platinum I was getting about 200mpg city; now, I am only getting about 175mpg city. I also changed my fuel filter. Any reason why my gas mileage is decreasing? A reply would be greatly appreciated. Thank, Geoff. |

Re: Iridium Vs Platinum Spark plugs?
well i bought mine for perfomance and to help the engine run smoother and more efficient. i havent really noticed any changes but i do drive fast so i refuel every week. i drive about 190 miles a week and i like to gun it alot. i also got a new air intake from ebay. its a high flow air intake 4.5". engine sounds cooler and has a lil more pep

Re: Re: Iridium Vs Platinum Spark plugs?
just adding a performance filter doesent really add much performance. (not to mention its sucking in hot air) just sounds way cool. after you mod your ecu to account for all that extra air that is can suck, then you're talking major hp increase. i perfected this code for the j's about 2 months ago. been running perfect. pulls way harder in every gear, shifts alot harder and faster, not to mention it sounds mean, like driving a total different car

Re: Iridium Vs Platinum Spark plugs?
bosch +4 are the worst plugs you can buy for a car, very crappy design, If you want the most from your engine, replace the plugs with stock plugs, NGK-R are fine as well as NGK iriduims for a nissan.
The stock plug has been designed to work perfectly with your engine.

Re: Iridium Vs Platinum Spark plugs?
My verdict is in, I think the bosch platinum +4 plugs are o.k. to give a little power boost, but after I put them in, my car started eating a lot more gas.
I took the bosch plugs out and bought new NGK PFR5G-11 (OEM) plugs and the car is back to normal gas consumption. I sent the bosch plugs to bosch, hopefully they will refund my money since they didn't perform as advertised. Geoff. |
