Unhappy It's not getting enough gas to fire up right...

Hi,

I have a 98...

When I start the car when it's already warm, it doesn't fire up right. The engine cranks then idles to about 400 RPM then tires to keep firing but dies right away. It all happenes in about 2 secs. It takes me about 10 starts to idle right.

Do these cars have relays? Is it the fuel pump?

It runs fine.

Sure sounds like it running fine
Is there a check engine light on?
When was the last time you replace the cap & rotor?
Try cleaning your throttle body, they get junked up pretty bad, try pushing the gas pedal down & release then start to loosen the butterfly if thats what causing your problem. Following the maint. schedule is a good thing.

yes those cars have relays

I havn't replaced the cap or rotor. Should I with only 52K miles?

Maybe a fuel pump relay? I had a bad fuel pump relay on my old ford exporer i sold.

With 52K I would guess the c/r is pretty burnt up by now. Will it fix your problem? It might

If it has the OEM platinum plugs, they should be good for 100K otherwise every 30K for normal plug types.

take your car to Honda for the 52,500 mile maint service. It was $120 @ the dealer I worked @. Let them do the service & they will create a shit list for you, decline it all & do it yourself.

If tell them about the problem they will charge you either .5hrs or 1.0hrs of labor just to look. Dont say anything about that & hopefully they will come across it during the service saving you $$$. $92.00 per hour where I worked
