3kgt, intergra, or hard to find n/a mr2
i have narrowed my field of potential cars. i have studied these three cars vigoroulsy...and love all of them lots. i want non forced induction to begin with, then later perhaps ill upgrade to a tubo or whatnot. i love the hell out of mr2s, but i need help finding one thats n/a, and in good condition, prefreblary (sp) older body styling. so, what do you guys think? are these good, respectable cars? i have more cash than i thought to spend...as long as its nothing over...9.5k, im good. i just would rather not spend it ALL...you know.

The MR2 N/A is a good car, but if you're gonna go turbo later, it would be way easier to just buy an MR2 Turbo. Same w/ the RX-7. Maybe an old Nissan 240SX? They are cheap, reliable, RWD, and there is a huge aftermarket for them.

Those are 3 pretty different cars...and why in the world would you want to start n/a if you were even remotely considering turboing in the future?

The 3000GT is the fastest and the best looking, the teg is the easiest to mod (I think), and the mr2 is the best handleing, if you are willing to spen all that cash and get a turbo you can get a VR4 which I would reccomend, If you realy want to go N/A I love my 3000GT SL it's very quick and has the best looks out of any of the cars you are looking at.

Re: 3kgt, intergra, or hard to find n/a mr2
k the MR2 is midengined have u ever tried to work on one! its like freekin hard hey!
and by the way where do u put the intercooler?? (always wondered that) but the weight destribution and hadeling of the MR2 is excellent from stock Integra's can be AWSOME! with money thrown into them, they are wikid, especially on windy roads. The 3000 is the ouright fastest and best looking the question is do u want handeling or raw speed and looks? |

Your thinking of a front mount intercooler dude, most are not front mount because it saves alot of haslte puting htem where they fit.

Is the VR4 the only 3kgt that is AWD?

The 1991 NA MR2 is 0-6 in 8.5 and 1/4 mmile in 16.3. The difference is negligible. As for styling, that is a personal preferance. The 3000 GT is too large and bulky IMO. Quote:

The MR2s stock intercooler is located in the passenger side quarter panel, in front of the rear wheel. The side vent opens directly into it, supplying plenty of air flow. It looks just like any other intercooler, just a bit smaller. Aftermarket ICs (GReddy, Spearco, HKS) all have the IC in the same location. Other options are above the transmission, in the trunk or water-to-air ICs mounted directly above the engine. You can get a good realiable NA MR2 for under $4500. You would have a true mid-engine sports car that is great on gas and high on looks. As for insurance, from what I have seen, the difference between insuring an NA MR2 versus a turbo MR2 is not much of a difference. Hope that helps.

Oh, that makes sense to put it there, but I've also seen a couple of Japanese MR2s with an intercooler up on top of the car...I'll try and find pics. :P
