Fujimi F355 Challenge interior tub location on chassis

Evening everyone.

Getting close to finishing my rendition of this kit:

Hit a small snag as I get towards final assembly though and was wondering if anybody had built one of these before to save me a bunch of test fitting that will put my nicely painted and finished body at risk.

As you can see on the pics there is no positive locators for the tub on the chassis. It says there is on the instructions but they are not there in reality and I do not remember (nor does it look as if I did) removing them.
Laterally it is located by the 'trans tunnel' but nothing to position it longitudinally so if anyone can provide some advice and experience I would be hugely appreciative.

I suspect I should push it as far forward (as shown below) as it should go but I would like to be sure.

As you can see, there is quite a bit of flexibility as to where it sits.

Thanks guys.
Jim

It should line up where it needs to go when the body is on.

I would imagine so, yes, but I was hoping to glue it down before I put the body on.

Why not glue it to the inside of the body then set it on the chassis?

No solid mounting points inside the body. The fit on the kit, especially the glass is not great so its tricky.

what they said,
how i would do it is line up the dashboard with the windscreen, that should locate it for you.

Re: Fujimi F355 Challenge interior tub location on chassis

Get some double-sided sticky tape and stick it on in the far forward position. Pop the body on and see where it sits versus the windscreen base. Take the body off, pull the tub free and move it back as much as is needed to fit against the windscreen. Test fit the body again. Move the tub again as needed. When you're happy, scribe a couple of lines on the chassis against the corners of the interior tub, take off the tape, apply glue to the tub and chassis, and stick the tub where the marks you made earlier indicate. When the glue has started to "take" but not set firm, pop the body back on and do any "fine-tuning" that you need to get a precise fit to the windscreen and doors...

bestest,
M.
