Does Opel currently market any cars in the US . . . matter of fact, where does the Opel marque originate from?
Is that another car from Poland . . . ? |

Once there was a guy called Adam Opel. He lived in Germany and was one of the first to produce cars. So Opel is a German mark (Poland??????), wel;l, was until 1929 when acquired by General Motors.
My friend has an Opel. It's cheap, but it sucks royal @ss! There are a lot of them here. Joke: -Why don't Opel owners greet each other? - Because they've already seen each other at a car repair shop this morning!

I kind of have an opel. The company is called Opel in europe, its called vauxhall here in england. Both are owned by General Motors. In england my cars called a Astra, in europe its called a kadette, and if you take alook at my sig pic i think you lot have something similar in the US called a Pontiac LeMans.
Oh and heres a few stats to make you mind up if you think its that sh1t. 2litre 16 valve (normally aspirated), fully sequential multipoint injection, 156bhp, 0-60 7.4 seconds, top speed 142mph on the rev limiter in 5th gear, ive done a 15.388 standing quater mile at santapod here in the UK. Not too shabby for a standard motor.

Hello, Oddball
Obviously, you're the same guy who's on the MIG board... Just curious, how did you find your way here??? P.S. http://www.migubb.co.uk/ is by far the best Opel/Vauxhall resourse out there. Not that most of you care, though

Opel was founded by the Opel brothers, actually, in the late 1800s. The company is officially Adam Opel AG and is based in Germany. It was acquired by GM in the 1920s along with England's Vauxhall in GM's quest to have global coverage just like Ford. Where Ford just built the Model T in nearly every market, GM bought companies around the world (Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Oakland, Chevrolet, Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, Isuzu, etc.).
For many years, Buick sold Opels in the US including the Kadette, Manta, and Opel GT. Later "Buick/Opel" models were NOT Opels, they were Isuzu models used to fill the gap in the Buick lineup. One Opel model is currently sold in the US, just not under the Opel badge. The Cadillac Catera is built by Opel in Germany. It's basically a rebadged and repackaged Opel Omega. The next Opel-like product we're likely to get here will be the next generation Chevrolet Cavalier. It'll be an American-built version of the upcoming Opel Astra. |

Hey crash, thats a pretty sweet GT, but I don't think it'll handle very well. With the proper suspension, it could still be a 9 second car, but would corner like a Ferrari.

If the Opel GT isn't hairy enough, try Opels powered by solid-fuel rockets:
