Which is the best?
I am wanting to buy a Ford Mustang but do not want one of the models that uses up alot of gas, therefore, I need to know what year was the best for both performance and gas-saving. It would help if you could tell me as to why that was the best year.
Thank you for your time. |

Re: Which is the best?
Mustangs use gas PERIOD. Theres not much you can do to get around that. Keep in mind that high performance and fuel economy are at opposite ends of the rope. in my opion if you are going to buy a mustang as a daily driver fuel injection is the way to go. Otherwise ist just personal preferance, with the exception of my 67 all mine have been 79-95. So to fully answer you question we will need to know if you are looking to do wheel stands or just putt around town.

Yes, even the six cylinder cars (any make) use more gas than a four cylinder.
I once owned a '63 Chevy II SS (Sorta Sporty) with 194 cu in, six cylinder engine and an automatic and she never gave better than 21 MPG (anywhere). |

Re: Which is the best?
id go with a 1993 mustang 2.3L high output if ur lookin for performance and fuel economy. i have a buddy witha 700rwhp 2.3L high output mustang all he reall did to it was buy forged internals and a big turbo and a new computer, injectors , fuel rail , and a new fuel pump and he was good and it still was good on gas as long as you didnt floor it

NO such thing... but........ You can modify and tune a mustang to be fuel thrifty, with the right parts. I get an average of 300~330 per tank. I fill up light to light (fuel Light that is) and I run 3.55's. But I did everything possible to lighten up my rotational mass. So I have the electric water pump, aluminum flywheel, Aluminum clutch plate, aluminum drive shaft. I had the ring for my ring and pinion groved to take off mass. I also have UD pulleys. I bough higher end brake rotors because they are lighter weight that the cheap generic stuff. If you go with aftermarket seats, you can remove about 80 lbs of dead weight. Aftermarket hood can shed another 10~20 lbs. Going with aftermarket exhaust can also shed some pounds, expecially if you go with the bullit style mufflers. Getting tubular control arms will also shed some wight. Getting the Tri-link will also shed weight. Getting a tubular K-member will also shed weight. Going with coil overs will also shed weight(I love my coil overs) Rear seat delete kit.. more weight gone. 1/2 inch holes spaced 1/2 apart in your bumper support bars will also shed weight. taking the sterio out..less weight So basically get a Stripped down mustang with no luxery items, and then remove any extra weight with ligher weight parts and you can get some really good gas mileage.

Re: Which is the best?
First get an 03/04 Cobra. Then put some 60lb injectors in, KenneBell boostapump, sct2tuner, 2.8 KenneBell, Accufab/Kennebell single blade throttle body, Bassani catted x pipe, Borla Stnger catback, 3.5 upper pulley with a 4lb lower pulley. Your gonna need some after market idlers also cause your gonna shear the medal rite off the stock ones. Dont forget that aux tensioner! Also a nice JLT CAI and then some good headers. Wait a minute..did you say "GAS FRIENDLY" Mustang? Sorry..not use to that..thought you said alot of HP. My bad Get a V6-Shane
