i was showing picture of the j30 to my buddy to show him that the vg n/a engine is in the j30 and i came across this. n/a's are electronically controlled to shut off at like 145-155 mph right. but i seem not to be able to get mine to 140 hardly. but this kid seemed to take me detuned engine and bury the MPH needle. WTF!!!!!!!!! i dont know about you guys but i think he is full of shit!!!

you would have to have one heck of a long straigh-away to max out a car, or use chryslers (i think that is it) test course. you would probably be able to hit 155, but once our cars get to about 130-135, they start accelerating very very slowly.

Guy is full of shit. Probably just got it up to about 130 and then his speedo sensor ate a gear, causing the needle to lay limp as Clinton on the other side of the gauge.

Real proof would have been a shot of the tach.

Can't believe the panel of experts overlooked 2 important things here.
1) Maybe he has changed the wheel and tire size. Which would cause the speedo error.
2) (Most likely) You notice he said he attempted to change the guages. Well my guess would be maybe he did not get the needle back in place at 0.

Anyways, I kind of agree... Its a trick, a J30 cant hit 160 without some SERIOUS modifications, and a lot of room. Like Jared said.

He also said they come stock with 210... No... 190. And that chip thing he bought off ebay prolly', does nothing good for your engine either.

Maybe I was wrong, and a stock J30 will do 160. Maybe if you drop it from the back of a plane. Why don't you test drive for us and report back?

Like Wes says, it takes more than a fuckin chip off eBay to go 160 and I'm not aware of any cars that aren't speed limited in the computer.
and if that was the case me and alot of me's sure pissed alot of money down the tube for nutten.

Where did you get the 180 speedo?........I know some non us models have them.. Is it aftermarket or ?? My 91 tt only hits 160 or 165..Thinking its 160. Got another one?
