MAF Bypass

Hey guys...wondering if anyone ever heard of bypassing the MAF on a Z32? Mine just went bad, and because of where I'm located parts are expensive and hard to come by. About the only place I can get a new one is at the dealer and they want close to $400 for a new one. Any ideas on how to do this or to fix the one that's in there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

um...people have bypassed it i am pretty sure but i have no idea on how they went about doing it.

if you go to a junkyard they might be able to get you one shipped from another yard. just an idea.

Re: MAF Bypass

The Dealer Wont Tell You How To Doit But If You Asked A Local Shop They Should Know. Or Just Be Cool With Of The Tech From The Dealer And Later They Should Help You On The Side.

Re: MAF Bypass

All you have to do is run a loop on the information input and output... Cant be that difficult, my uncle had it done on his Skyline (lives in Canada)...

But keep in mind his Skyline was BUILT internally... The MAF is there for a reason, so unless your pushing enough horsepower, that you NEED as much air flow as possible... Dont do it.

I would just suggest hitting up a wrecker yard and getting a TT MAF... Easy install, and some noticable power increase... Not much, but still noticable.

Do you know which pins are the input and output? Can't tell off the wiring diagram. I'd hit up a junkyard for a used MAF, but I'm on Guam(tiny island in the Pacific) and there are only a few Z32's on the island. So I've got no way to get my hands on one. Thanks

Re: MAF Bypass

Damn son... Just hit up Ebay then.

I seriously wouldnt recomend the MAF Bypass without an ECU reprogram and some internal upgrades... Dont try it, because the results may be fatal to your VG.

Just go TT MAF

yeah you definitely dont want to run lean.

you can do a couple searches on the internet. there are more than a few sites that let you type in your info and what you want from their wrecking yard and they email you back with price and and stuff.

If you bypass it you'll f**k up the program in the ECU and cause you ECU to go into safety mode and that retards your ignition and richens your mixture to protect your engine. Do like everyone says and hit the junk yards or go to eBay. I've seen them on eBay for around $50+ shipping

Re: MAF Bypass

This is a baaaaaaad bad bad bad idea. Put quickly, If you bypass it, you'll run waaaaaaaaaaaaaay lean, detonate, and blow up.

Best case scenerio: your timing will get bumped back (...or retarded...but it's just kinda weird saying that though...)...and that'd be the least of your worries...

Yep. keep checking on eBay and maybe you'll find a 90mm MAF but it'll cost you alittle more, but a stock one usually go for around $50

i had a q45 at my shop and heard that it had the larger maf but was told i would have to get someone to reprogram the computer for the difference in size. i just decided to stay with the stock size.

Re: MAF Bypass

They use the VH45's MAF on higher powered Skylines... Works pretty good apperently.
