Brake lights, rear turn signals won't work
I've got a 98 Silverado. Break lights and rear turn signals won't work but tail lights and reverse lights work. Also the brake light on the cab does work. Can someone give me a hand with this?

Re: Brake lights, rear turn signals won't work
All of those functions operate through the 4-way hazard flasher switch. Verify that the lamps are intact and that the 4-way flashers are working on all corners. If the lamps operate on 4-way, try to exercise the switch on and off for several cycles to clean off the slider contacts. If the normally closed contacts can become oxidized, and this may restore operation.
If that has no effect, begin the diagnosis with a voltmeter and schematic. A good place to split the system is at the connector at the base of the steering column. If the brake lamp power is present on the white wire (Pin A1) but not returning on the green (Pin E6) and yellow (Pin E7) wires, the turn signal/hazard switch may be at fault.

Blue Bowtie. Thanks. The bulbs are fine. The 4 ways work on the front only. Not the rear. I just have no brake lights or turn signals on the rear.

So, is there power at the white wire when the brake pedal is depressed?

Re: Brake lights, rear turn signals won't work
thank you for your help. Problem resolved. The auto parts store had a tail light circuit board in stock and said I could try replacing it. That solved the problem. Thank you for your help.

Re: Brake lights, rear turn signals won't work
I use some dielectric grease on the connector to it. same stuff as the spark plug wire boot ends. helps reduce damage. good luck ..
