What's that engine?
And what car is it in (or what car did it come out of)?
Announcing the AF Car Modeling Guess the Engine Thread. So, what is this engine, and what car is it in? Post your answer here. Whoever gets the first confirmed right answer gets to post the next engine pic. Guidelines- When it's your turn, find and post an engine pic. Crop as necessary to make it fun. If the engine is freestanding (not mounted in a car), then the car it left the factory in is the right answer (just because some yahoo has stuffed a small block V8 into a VW Beetle does not make the Beetle the right answer for a small block). We're looking for some cool building inspiration here. So I'll start with something easy.

Re: What's that engine?
The backwards alternator kind of gave it away. I have the Tamiya kit on my shelf. Lost the decklid so there it sits.

Re: What's that engine?
The second engine's picture is named 'turbooffy'
Now, would that be some clue? http://www.hotrodhotline.com/feature...s/2009/09offy/ Clearly that was cheating. Give us another one! |

Andy: seeing your S7 (finished? or not? ) with the Europa TC, well the first time one Tamy europa passed cheap under my eyes I taken it: well the project was eventually to transplant it on the second S7 (strange.... strange to say... the first is finished LOL) but I found the kit so cute, with those double Y frame... well that I must get another europa if I want steal the engine

Re: What's that engine?
Sure, looks like an Offy to me.
Layla's Keeper, is that right? Ridefast, got another pic for us? Yeah, the Europa is one that you either love or hate- and I completely love it. The Tamiya kit is fantastic- especially that Twin Cam. Gio, the S7 hasn't gotten much work on it recently. I'm stuck with it- it needs a Bosch alternator! But you might be surprised what else is getting worked on....

Re: What's that engine?
It was in fact a Meyer-Drake produced Turbo Offenhauser, still the single most dominant engine in the history of the Indianapolis 500.
Here's another great engine.

Re: What's that engine?
Doesn't matter- come on already, give us an engine pic!
The idea is not to come up with the most difficult, obscure one you can find- the idea is to see a bunch of engine pics! No points will be awarded for stumping everyone. Points are awarded for guessing someone else's post, and then posting your own favorite. So give us an engine pic!

Re: What's that engine?
One of my favorites only due to it's simplicity and quite peppy and torquey for a low-power engine.
Are we guessing the engine type code or where it's from? Cause mine is pretty much obvious who makes it. haha.

Re: What's that engine?
Looks like Celica engine 2 or even 3 generations back, early to mid-90's

Re: What's that engine?
Endac is partially correct since it's found in the 2003-2010 models. It's the 2AZ-FE, which is a widely used engine in few Toyota models, such as their first gen Scion tCs and 2nd Gen xBs. The replacement for this engine is the new 2AR-FE, which has more power, torque, and fuel efficiency.
