206 petrol warning light

hello,
im a novice at car mechanics so if anybody could help me it will be appreciated.
whilst driving to work the petrol warning light came on. after i finished work i put £15 of petrol in my car, but the warning light is still bleeping and the needle hasnt moved it is still in the red zone.
do i need to put more petrol in or is there a problem? if so what can i do?
thanx
