2003 Ford Expedition Front Brake Rotors

.
I have a 2003 Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer) 5.4 L engine,2WD,auto trans,

The problem I am having is trying to remove the front brake rotors to have them resurfaced.
I am used to the spindle with two cone shaped roller bearings held on by a nut with a cotter pin, that the brake rotor is mounted onto(with a dust cap at the end of the spindle). This system looks to me as if it is mounted onto a center hub of some sorts with a non-tapered roller bearing in the perimeter of the rotor hub area. From the rear it looks to have a grease seal to prevent the grease from leaking out.I am at a loss on how to remove this, and does this come out as one piece or are there two pieces, hub separate from the rotor disk. Does this has to be done by an auto shop that has a special tool to remove the hub and rotor?

Any input would be greatly appreicated
Thanks

Re: 2003 Ford Expedition Front Brake Rotors

Hi, This is from a retired FORD tech, The rotors are frozen on/rusted on or what have you on...dissemilar metals being the problem, UNLESS you are a WELL equipped, and very knowledgeable tech, I suggest the most reputable Ford dealer you can find. See Ya, Clay...

Any rusted Brake Rotor removal

I see this link is old but if some one sees this it may help in the future.
After the caliper and holder are removed, turn the rotor to the opening where the caliper sits and take a sawzall with a metal blade and make a cut right down to the hub, be carefull not to cut the hub. Cut between the ribs. Then take a chisel or a mini grinder and score the face of the rotor in the same line as the saw cut. Also cut or chisel in line at the top flat of the rotor. This will make a score line all the way through the rotor. Then roll the rotor about 45 degrees and make another cut the same as before. Take a cold chisel and drive it down the outside of the rotator face and expand the sawzall cut. This will crack the rotor right down the score marks. Then take a hamer and from the back side hit the pie shaped piece this will loosen the rotor. Be sure to lube the sawzall blade with cutting oil while cutting. Time involved was 20 to 30 minutes. You'll be surprised to see how easy the sawzall blade cuts throiugh the rotor. Good Luck
