NFSHP2, who plays?

As a greatest hits title, this game is a major deal for 20 bucks. Where else can you drive Porsches, Lambos, Ferraris, and Mclaren F1s in a race together? They've also got a few good american V8s (Z06 is my personal favorite) and the best part, NO JAPANESE..okay maybe I went a bit too far with that comment...nah. A fresh game where you can race, in a cop chase or be the cop and the soundtrack had me spinning, awesome excellent awesome Rock music, such as Bush's People that we love (Speed Kills) and Hot Action Cop's We Go, too bad they edited feva for the flava. I play this in moderation with GT4, and this game truly satiates my need for speed.

Now that I've blabbed enough, who still plays this game? What do you like about it? Which version, ps2, xbox, gamecube, PC? Have you played online?

I love everything about it and still play it on my ps2 once in a while (have it for pc also). Cars like the M5, F1, CLk-GTR....they're just amazing. I think its the last true NFS game...exotic cars and winding roads...thats what it was all about in the beginning. I like NFS:MW, but I think NFS should be more about exotics and arcade type racing rather than tuning and realism. As one of the designers said, "the McLaren F1 is the essence of what NFS is all about." The ending movie is also pretty cool with the 360 Spyder. Speaking of movies, the intro for NFS2/SE is very nice showing many of the 90's supercars (and concepts:GT90), but my favorite is the one from NFS:High Stakes, where the 993 Porsche rolls up on a tuned civic(?) at a stop light, when the light turns green the civic tries to pull away but breaks down and a Corvette and 2 Diablos join the race but inevitably the Porsche wins...anyways...if anyone has just that movie in any format I would greatly appreciate it.

I rented that game when it came out a while back, really enjoyable, right before they pandered to the chavs/ricers and fucked up the series

Re: NFSHP2, who plays?

Listen, its not like we HATE games with tunning/mods...but sometimes I just want to take a 360 Spyder for a spin down a coastal or mountain road at sunset without having to worry about what tires I have on, the right suspension setting, and all that other stuff. You always hear about all these exotic auto shows/gatherings (like Concours d'’Elegance) and that game makes you feel like you're part of it, in a way. A bunch of Porsches, Ferraris, Vipers, Corvettes, and Lamborghinis tearing it up on what always looks like European roads to me (is it just me?) while getting chased by a cop is pretty cool. It makes me feel like I'm on the Gumball 3000 without having to pay the $10,000 fee.

I'm one of the biggest fans of Gran Turismo, still have 1 and 2 for the original Playstation, I have NFSMW (which is pretty cool), and I have Forza, but the point is Need For Speed is about arcade style racing, its about cars you dream of getting one day as a kid. Not nitrous, body kits, and aftermarket headlights. Project Gotham is nice also, but you race on city streets instead of country roads.

This is a little too far...but in a way...the reason someone buys a Porsche instead of an Evo is the same reason someone plays NFS games instead of Gran Turismo games, you know?

Re: NFSHP2, who plays?

I see what your saying, I also preffer the realistic racing/cars to the arcade style racing. I'm just saying carbon looks like it might be an OK game. But i really want GT5!

Actually if you spend more time in the game, you'll get city streets and believe it or not, some of those roads are american, some are european, some are...great. Watch the making of the game too.

Re: NFSHP2, who plays?

I still play it sometimes. Its my favorite NFS game. I hope they go back to that sometime. NFS underground 1 and 2 were the worst racing games I've seen. Stupid F&F movies.

Re: NFSHP2, who plays?

I think its an alright game but they really REALLY messed it up

the career, achievements, cars, hype, and EA's greed was totally out of wack

online is funner though, alot more fun!

career - Bad script and same old gameplay

achievements/cars - no one will play online enough to unlock those levels but they have tons of gamerscore plus cars and parts when you get to those levels.. and everyone has that stupid Audi R8. Also I couldn't believe that the Koenig. CCX and Camaro Concept was going to be in it. But later on I figured out that I had to get the collecters addition.. so I did and you can only drive them online or offline races.. not career, TISS TISS EA!

hype - eveyone was saying its going to change the world of racing and its revolutionary... it didn't, it sucked

but one thing stood out.. the marketplace

they sell parts and cars that are able to get sometime in the game, I would only let them sell the Xbox live exclusive cars (that you can't get in-game) or the collecters upgrade.

they have a petition for this which I obviously signed!

EA is going to hell for this..

I'm boycoting it until they do something about it
