Hello,
I have a 1973 Datson, and I was wondering could the points cause it to run bad, and, or backfire? If so what should i do? Thanks :alien: Daniel:alien: |

The back fire could be caused by incorrect valve timing

What model Datsun have you got. The points can make it run real bad if they have closed up this will retard the timing making it backfire, hard to start and miss. Renew the points, gap them to 19thu and reset the timing to 10 BTDC. While you are at it check the plugs and leads.
