2001 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4L Fuel Pump Problems
I have put a new fuel pump and filter on the car and the car will still not start but the pump is running. I took the line off at the filter and no fuel is coming out of the line but when you turn the key on you can hear the pump running. So I removed the new fuel pump and took it back and got another new one and still the same problem is occurring. Then I put a pcm in the car and still no change, and also changed out the fuel pump relay and it’s still doesn’t start ...DOES ANYONE have any idea what it could be????

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4L Fuel Pump Problems
First the obvoius, there is fuel in the tank, yes? A new pump will take a few seconds to prime itself. If after a few key cycles, if there is no fuel pressure and the pump is running, then there is a problem with the installation or possibly a clogged or pinched line.
No reason to replace the relay if the pump is running. Have you checked for fuel pressure at the fuel rail? Is there spark at the plugs? What made you decide to replace the fuel pump in the first place? |

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Am 3.4L Fuel Pump Problems
OK, you take the line off of the fuel filter and nothing comes out of the line while cranking the vehicle?
Did you replace the whole module or did you try to take it apart and just replace the pump? Everything is connected? Do you have full battery voltage to the pump while cranking? Check with a test light,,,,should be as bright as when attached directly to the battery...... |
