Its the concept Z10. Being a concept, it can't be nominated. All cars must be in production.

1. Ford Mustang GT - 3pts
2. Ford GT - 2pts
3. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 - 1pt

First, the Mustang GT. Ford burnt a lot of midnight oil to make sure the new 'Stang would be a worthy replacement for the Fox platform Mustangs. From a styling and functionality standpoint they really improved. The chassis is a lot more rigid, and the suspension recieved a lot of much needed updating. All in all Fords new incarnation of the classic ponycar gives IMO the most bang for the buck.

Second, the GT. While infinitely powerful, agile, and innovative, not to mention just plain sexy, the GT is way out of reach for the average joe.

Third, the Z06. The Z06 continues to be the balls to the walls car in the Chevy stable, and is currently the only GM offering to rival the Mustang. Even for the brutish performance, I really dont feel it lives up to its 65k+ price tag, and is another car that is just out of reach for the avearge joe.

Disagree with you there man. The new stangs use a linked rear axle...a linked rear suspension, decades old technology which is by far inferior to an independent system which is found on most modern vehicles which even hint at sportiness. Although looks-wise i think Ford nailed it, the new Stangs look fantastic. They also sound fantastic, i have raced one. Just dissapointed they dont even offer an upgraded system.

Re: Car Comparisons' Car Of The Year 2005 - Nominations (read instructions first!)

going for the real world champions here.

1st: Mazda RX-8

i like the idea of a car company putting out a car that goes against the trend and actually requires some love and attention from it's owner. It's also far sexier in the metal and for £22,000, i can't think of many cars that offer the same things that this can. granted it's not perfect but it ticks far more "yes" boxes than most cars in it's price range.

2nd: lotus exige S2 (or 240R for the very lucky few)

one of the most pure driving machines?
sure, it's now got some of the elctronics that were missing before but considering that they are practically imperceivable in the actual driving of it, does it matter? especially seeing as it cures some of that fastest=knife edge feel of the older S1 cars.

3rd: Porsche Cayman.
small, like a 911 should be.....

1st - Porsche (997) 911 Carrera S
2nd - BMW e60 M5
3rd - Toyota Prius

Reasons: Some very hard choices!! It was a tie for first between the Porsche 911, Ferrari 430, and the Corvette c6. All sports cars with decades of evolution and refinement! I was close to choosing the vette because of it's affordability over the others. But this is about the "best" car and the vette just isn't that in my opinion. For making a rear-engined car handle like the best of 'em, the 911 takes the cake.
As for the others. The BMW M5 is the king of 4 door rockets and the latest 500hp v10 powered example is the best one yet. BMW has been the benchmark for high powered 4 door saloons. Always has, always will. Then theres the Toyota Prius. A very unusual choice some might say. However, look how many hybrid vehicles have spawned in the last few years becuase of this car. And with the way things are now, it looks like hybrid cars are the way of the future and the Prius is the benchmark of hybrids. So in the end my choices are all benchmarks in each of their classes you could say.

Re: Car Comparisons' Car Of The Year 2005 - Nominations (read instructions first!)

#1-Lotus Elise- No way should 180 hp be this much fun and priced for the real world!
#2-Bugatti Veyron- 1M Euros,4wd, 1000 hp and no concievable place to run it to it's limits...Perfect!
#3-Mustang GT Probably the only car Ford did right this year.
I focused more on the sports cars as they represent to me the purest form of the car. but if I were to look at cars I could concievably own, they would be the Lotus, Mazda6 SportWagon, and BMW M3.
