Noone must not be buying the new cougars either.

I know why people isnt buying Camaros cause they

like being beat in their Mustangs by Camaros , 02

Maximas and Alitma 3.5 SE's. with 5-speeds.

When it comes to trading dollars for speed, the SS

stands alone.

CAMARO SS RULES.

ok, i like the cougars styling (yeah shoot me), but it sucks as a performance car. Mustangs......a fake hoodscoop is like plastic hooters.......no good, and you see em so much it makes it so id rather see a camaro around sometimes

as for the trans am motor question, yup (i believe so, im not yet an owner so i cant say for sure), but the styling is soooooo much better

All Firebird Formulas and Trans Am's have the same motor as a Camaro Z28/Z28 SS. It is a 5.7L (350cid) V8, a pushrod, with 2 valves/cylinder. No techno-trickery, just cubic inches. It make 310hp currently, with 325 in SS (camaro) or WS6 (Firebird) models. It makes about 350lb-ft. It goes to 5500-6000rpm. It is simple, flexible, and marvelous. One of the best engines out there. It can be bored and stroked to 427.6cubic inches (7 liters)

well its not really that much to bore and stroke a engine, but since you have to pull the engine, rip it apart, buy new heads, rings, pistons etc. it will run around 2 grand! but hey its worth it! And i like how you put it "5.7 liter 350, not a corvette engine" I hate when people have a 350 in a suburban and then they tell me its a corvette engine, i tell them, its a corvette block, but by no means is it a corvette engine!

Actually the LS1 displaces 347 CI not a 350, but is a descentant from the 350 line. The design is basically the same, but not exactly, and the parts aren't all interchangable. L98/LT1 vs. LS1 for example.

But, anyway. My boss sees upper 20s mpg on the road, and low 20s around town for an average of 24 1/2 in his LS1, so fuel economy isn't half bad for a car putting out 345 hp. But who ever brings fuel economy to hp fight is just making excuses. There are much better reasons then fuel economy not to drive a f-body.

Boring and Stroking the 350 LS1 is very expensive. They use a special cylinder liner, and until last year, it wasn't possible to bore it at all!! So it would be more than 2 grand. Lingenfelter does it, and I know a Canadian company that does it. I will find out how much they charge and website tomorrow (I work tonight )

Yeah, I don't there is enough meat on the cylinder liners to do any significant boring on the LS1. Re-sleeving the block is a big deal.
