2000 Sable, new engine issue
We have a new issue on the Sable tonight. Wife leaves for town, calls 10 minutes later, engine is acting up, barely running enough for 5mph and everything on the dash is bouncing or flashing.
Made it to my mothers, I get there and all seems fine. I drive about 4 miles out into the country, around a big block and back to town. All normal. Last stop sign, when I go to take off, engine starts missing like crazy. Tach and speedo bouncing slightly up and down and many, like all idiot lights flashing on and off. Almost like someone was turning key off and on. You know, like when you turn the key on, start the engine and all idiot light stay on a few seconds and then goes off. Hard to recall, if the engine dyeing was same timing as these light going off, then engine coming back when light come on. I don't remember exactly. I go back, wife drives her car home, I drive mine. She said is acted up slightly a couple times but not as bad as earlier. Any ideas? Some common ailment? Thanks in advance, Dale |

Sounds electrical. I would be checking all battery cables, alternator output etc.

Re: 2000 Sable, new engine issue
Battery terminals like new, tight. Mega fuse connection tight. Relays in fuse box under hood down and seated in place. Volts holding steady about 13.9 to 14 volts during. Radio did not seem affected. Saw no tail light fluctuations on way home but did not know when it may have had those more.minor issues stated.
