intercooler design
has anyone created a system that uses freon to cool the air (like a/c)?

dei has their co2 charged intake tube, and an intercooler sprayer that use co2, which is realllly cold...

zex nitrous has a kit that sprays nitrous onto the intercooler.

The new re-designed Lightning that is comming out in a year or so has the new "supercooler" which uses the refridgerant to cool the intake air, and adds an instant 50hp for 30-45 secs bursts...pretty awesome...check it out

www.designengineering.com kit has a pretty nice setup that can cool your intake, incoming fuel, and your i/c... and it's cheaper than the nitrous setup... you'd get more power/cooling from the nitrous by spraying it into the intake tube, instead of on the cooler... spray before the cooler, and it cools even more... |

There are intercoolers used in dragracing which are using icewater or CO2. Sadly, they can only be used once since they then needs a refill.
Nitrous should be injected into the engine instead since it has the largest cooling effect in the cyllinders under the compression phase. |
