'67 Ford Mustang hardtop

This june a very good frind of me is going to make his biggest mistake in life , he's going to marry.
They will use the Mustang of his father in law, which is a '67 mustang hardtop straight 6.

As we know there is no model of a '67 hardtop, only fastbacks.

So i had to buy two kits to try to make one good one.

First a picture of the Original car.

The kits i'm using:

The progress till now after different mistakes.

Because this car is a six straight, i couldn't use the engine's from the kits.
So i order this from Australia.

Re: '67 Ford Mustang hardtop

Today the postwomen came to my door an delivered me some with a happy end.
Ik opened the package from Down-under and i found a newspaper, a little disapointed i started to read the news ( it could be interesting to read some news from the other side of the world ) and then a small bag fell out of the newspaper.

Filled with some yellow/brown stuff.
A closer insection made me realise it was the engine i ordered.

It looks great, very well casted and a little flash on it.
Only the V-belt is to wide.

At last i have somthing to glue together in stead of sanding

Nice progress on it so far!! I'm guessing that the engine came from Michelle at The Parts Box in Australia? They're really great to deal with!!

Re: '67 Ford Mustang hardtop

Tonio, I've bought the engine from a guy who doesn't have a site jet.
I will send a picture of the engine back when it's finished to put on his ( in progres being ) site.

To the Stang.

I put the Gnome to work on the sanding, which ik don't like at this moment.
But it is wors. The whole day on one spot and nothing done.

I made some work on the engine ( photo's made in super-macro)

The engine is very nice detailed and i will put on some ignitionwires.

Nice project! Engine seems to be casted without pressure and degasing and there are some bubbles on the surfaces, but it should be fine when fixed.

Re: '67 Ford Mustang hardtop

After a long time, i found some rest to pick up the Stang.

Some progress was made on the engine.
I made the belt a lot smaller and added some ignition wires.

And i finished te work on the body, now i have a '67 hardtop .

Still some sanding to do, but almost ready to put on some primer.

For the engine i need to go to the local hobbyshop to find the right blue.
The two blue paints i've are Revell 50 ( too light ) and Revell 51 ( too dark ).

Next challenge will be to make the open airea in the interieur closed.
Need to close the part behind the backseat en sides of the backseat.

Re: '67 Ford Mustang hardtop

Great work so far.
IMHO, I think you should have used the entire roof from '66 Mustang kit. The roof from the fastback is much more rounded, as the hardtop is straighter. Just my 2cents ;-)

Re: '67 Ford Mustang hardtop

I didn't see it mentioned but I believe that is a 68 Mustang in the original post.
