Re: insuring a skyline

You are FAR better off talking to insurance companies about this. Get out a phone book, and start dialing.

Last I heard there were a total of 178 legal Skylines running around the entire US. As for members of AF, I know ONE person that owns and drives one in the US. I'm not going to say who he is, I'll let that be up to him if he want's to help out or not.

So, you're far better off calling insurance companies directly as opposed to asking around here.

Where did you hear that? Most likely there are less than 100 legal Skylines. Illegal numbers are rising but no more legals if things continue as they are. I don't think Motorex has legalized any for quite some time now.

Re: insuring a skyline

I used state farm, they had to see all the paperwork, and type up a special plane, but it was only like $20 more a month than my 330ci. I think it is roughly $940 every 6 months, but it is hard to tell as I currently have 3 cars insured with them, and I pay them all at the same time, I have also had 2 speeding tickets this year, so that affects the amount as well.

Gordan how old are you? I'8 but will be 19 by the time I can get a Skyline, I use state farm and have 3 other cars insured, given mine should differ but I just want to know, I don't have anything negative on my record. I talked to them once before briefly and I got the look she didn't have any clue what a skyline was...

My state farm office didnt know what it was at first, but once I brought the paperwork in, they were able to write up a plan.

Cool I figured it was an R32, atleast I have a better idea of what I'll pay, the one I'm looking at is a 98.

Re: insuring a skyline

where are you getting a 1998 from? Oh well, you might save a little as the 96 and up skylines had dual airbags.

Re: insuring a skyline

oh, if you ever decide to get rid of the stock 98 steering wheel, I will buy it from you. I think those look alot better than the standard 95 wheel. It fits the car a little more, mine looks like it came from an altima.

When I talked to progressive about insuring a "90 GTR R32, they told me the closest comparable car was a '90 300ZX 2+2 and would use rates for that car. So for me it would end up $150 a month, which is actually lessthan what I pay for my Focus right now...

Re: insuring a skyline

make sure you insure it for a declared value. If you dont, when you wreck they will only pay you the value of the 300zx (wich isnt much)
