i really dig the focus for it's styling, and its attention to detail. they know that we like big rims, they give us big rims. and brakes. and a six speed. honda is convinced that 15s are the way to go. and hey, we would all upgrade anyway, but a svt looks good just stock. i wouldnt mod it, at least for a little bit...
i also like the tq it has. that is big for me... i like to rev high, but i like to have tq too... that is the way to go, at least for me.

my big contention against the civic is the styling, and the silly shifter... but hey... i could get over that... the little rims is a different story.

Yeah the brakes in front are big!!! I like the 17's and the nice touches all around...not too ricey. Ford definitely knew it would have a good car on their hands...and there is already a Jackson Racing Supercharger out for it. Get blown!!!

SVT Focus hands down.

its nice to have a thread that starts with the focus(underdog) on top for once... even if it just starts that way. it always seems like im defending it to someone who has a honda is god mentality. and i own a honda!

I didn't like the Focus until I drove one...

The SVT is a very solid car in a number of catagories. The chassis is very stiff, the suspension works well, the brakes are very good (the Si brakes really suck and have for some time), and the engine puts out more power and torque with the same displacement (for those that care about such things). The bigger, prettier, wheel tire package is nice also. The suspensions are very similiar, but the much better wheels, tires, and brakes, deffently give the Focus the advantage in handling. The tranny is very nice also.

Honda has a hotter version of the engine in the RSX-S, but when comparing the Civic SI to the SVT Focus, I think the Focus is the better car pretty much all around for the same price.

the si is gonna come with the rsx base engine with 160hp initially, but honda is said to bring over the 200hp european version during the same time the rsx type r (220hp) will hit the states, which may tip the scales. but for now, i'm not impressed with the si at all.

i drove a focus hatchback, although not an svt, it had lowering springs, 18's with nitto 555's, intake, exhaust, throttle body, and a zex nitrous kit. i must say i was very impressed with it! the car felt very tight and manuverable, and didnt complain from giving it gas at low rpm, like a honda would. my only complaint was it rode too rough, but then again last time i rode in a lowered civic it was much worse. maybe im too used to my rally suspension but as far as racing goes, this focus, when spraying his nitrous, will beat me by about 2 lenghts, whereas a 99 civic si i race sometimes with about the same mods will pretty much tie me. i dunno bout the new si's though.
