1/4 mile times for '85 vette

hey just wondering what the 1/4 mile time for a stock '85 vette would be, we got a guy over in the honda forum who wants to race one with a 98 integra gs-r and we're trying to explain to him that he will get beat badly by the vette but we aren't sure of the times. so if anyone has the numbers it would help. thanx.

85 vette has the cross fire injected engine. it should run mid to low 15s.

mid to low 15's???? are you kidding me? holy shit and all this time i thought vettes were fast?
i would assume that newer ones are alot quicker right? but i didn't think the older ones were that slow. well not that that is incredibly slow thats around what my car can do (low 15's-to very high 14's) but i always thought vettes were like above and beyond you know?

Nothing was fast in the '80s. C4's and C5's are just a shade faster than the Camaros/Firebirds of the same years...

In 86 they started using the tpi motor which got it down in the 14s. but yeah 80s cars where slow.

85 was the first year for TPI , NOT 86 (86 was the 1st year for aluminum heads though, halfway through the model year). I had an 85 vette a couple years ago. Stock, it ran in the high 14's, with some mods (gutted cat, exhaust, chip, AFPR, ported plenium, airfoil, airbox , K&N)it was in the low 14's (the best was a 14.3) . The C4 vettes do hook up real good off the line, at least mine did.

most of you guys are on crack,

TPI started in 85, crossfire was 82 and 84, with a good driver and good tires an 85 will turn a 14.0 flat. If you cant pull at least a low 14 time you need to go to driving class, stock for stock the integra will get his ass handed to him

I guess where you live the weather conditions are always great and theres no humidty. The track you're at you can always hook up perfectly? Try running your car when its 80 or 90 out, then go back when its 60 out, there'll be a bit of a difference in times. TPI & LT1 engines go to sh1t once the humidity & temperature get too high.

closest track is englishtown, and your correct about humidity and other factors, the 14.0 was on a non humid day at about 70 degrees

A Countach would probably be even with a C5, but would probably get beat by a Z06 , ZR1 or LT4 C4.A Countach isn't really made for the 1/4 mile anyways.

I have a 1985 Corvette. Is is a bone stock automatic with 150,00 miles. I ran 14.29 - 14.35 @ 95 with high humidity and over 100 degrees at the Texas Motorplex (2.10 60ft).

I also have 13 roadtests of 1985 Corvettes that range from 14.1 @ 97 to a 15.0 @ 91 mph. The average for all of these tests is 14.5 @ 95 mph.

Some people have been able to get a 13.9 out of a stock '85 vette 4 speed. These cars were very quick for their time period.

The 80's sucked as far as sports cars go. All these new fuel crisis and all this emissions bhonkey was just starting to take the full toll on the automotive industry. Both in a sense I think the 80s were one reason cars are so competitive now. Any time before the 80s what were the reasons for thinking in the US. Bigger motor, more gas, more power. The 80s forced the automotive industry to produce more efficient engines. And in effect you have new C5s with same cub size, only pushing twice as much power at better gas milage. I belive the CFI motor was cranking 175hp 250tq (at least in the F-bodies). Compared to the 350hp C5 running mid to low 13s. So i gotta thank the 80s for being sh*tty. Just my thought on the whole conspiracy hehe.
