Re: 89 sidekick engine surging
I share your frustrations.. my sidekick is doing the same thing. Did you ever figure it out?
Just last friday i was going down the freeway and it began to continue to accelerate even though my foot was not on the pedal. It was getting crazy fast and the rpms were going to 7k an 8k. I threw it in neutral because i thought the engine was going to blow and the rpms increased more so i cut the engine by turnning off the key. It surges from 2k rpm up to about 7k rpms when i start it again and accelerates after i let off the gas pedal. I got home without killing myself somehow but still have the same problem. I tried to reposition the TPS and was able to lessen the rpms in the surging but it still surges. I also notced that there is a lag after i let off the accelerator and the increases and floats then drops slowly back down. I am reluctant to drive it on the freeway again. Any ideas? |
