Question What is the longest-lasting turbo'd from factory car?

As far as reliability and longevity without motor problems, which factory turbo'd cars have proven to last the longest? I'm not talking about diesels though.

ok two things: even without the deisel, your still talking about a ton of cars... 2: way to many variables: amount driven each day, weather, how hard they r driven, are they raced etc... i dont nesesarily like the rx-7 as a choice, only because the rotary engine has beeen known to hit problems, no mattter how big it is.

Are you kidding? Everyone knows that rotaries are fuel efficient yet potent performers that are perfectly reliable, and hardly ever need oil changes. They are awesome.

I know there are variables. I'm asking what cars in general have proven to be long-lasting over the years. I mean I'm sure there are some Honda civics that have had major engine failure after 80k miles just because some one never changed the oil and ragged the shit out of it, but the general consensus is that civics are one of the longest lasting cars on the road. Honda is the bomb.com but I'm asking about factory turbo'd cars here.
Oh and rotary doesn't count. Those are just weird.

rotaries are not weird they are rather cool and as far as a reliable turboed car I would tend to say something with a smaller turbo maybe an old saab??

I was joking about the FD, lol. Sans reliability mods (and often with), they like to go Zoom Zoom Boom. But damn, they can be hella fun. Basically you have a square, and inside that square are two very angry triangles trying to get the fuck out.

MkIV Supra.

Seriously, I've seen them with over 100k miles still boosting stupid levels of boost and going fast. Evos I'm sure can handle miles as well. Not sure about Scoobies, someone more in tune with those will have to chime in.

out of factory( IM SUPRISED NO ONE SAID THIS) but the eclipse gs-t and gsx, can last quite a while, although once they do hit miles in excess of 120k, you might hit some problems.... the saabs are nice, as long as you don't beat it to death.... anything above 100k on the saab turbo'ed motors, and you start beating up on it, you wont make it to 110k... my buddy has 3 broken in his driveway... alll have under 115k on them...

Eclipse? Mitsubishi is notorious for making unreliable motors. 120k miles is pathetic. I guess there's not really a shining example out there of a motor that was really built to handle the boost for more than a decade. If only Honda would have made a turbo...

Re: What is the longest-lasting turbo'd from factory car?

Like Cassiesman, I've too heard that the 2JZ-GTE can run for long periods of time, even under modification. As far as boosted motors go, that is probably the most reliable that I am aware of.

My wife's 98 VW Passat 1.8t has 197k miles and still runs smooth and gets 31mpg highway. That's what you get when you drive like a turtle and have all scheduled maintenance performed when it's supposed to be done.

Isn't that a turbo diesel though?
