Lotus C-01

The kit was bought on eBay in Summer, 2016, for 190 Euro.

Soon after receiving I started to work with the body. Unfortunately, I have found that it has many imperfections compare to the original.

At first, I thought to improve it manually.

But lately my brother offered me the 3D model, which was created by himself.

It was the great and unexpected present for me!
Thus I decided to make a new body from scratch. First of all I have created separate parts in 3D with flanges and pins to match together during assembly.

At the moment all 17 parts are complete and ready for printing on my own 3D printer Formlabs Form2.

Re: Lotus C-01

I forgot to print the side covers.

Printed.

Started to adapt the rear swingarm from kit.

More deep modelling of the wheel and brake discs.

The jig for assembly.

The printed parts. The side covers were a bit modified and reprinted.

The quick test fitting.

Re: Lotus C-01

Amazing work - really impressed! Really looking forward to seeing this finished.
Do you know how well this is matched to the actual bike that ha s been given to the motorcycle press as the pics you show at the beginning are CAD renders released before the bike was built. I have had the 3 bike pic as part of my screensaver at work for a few years now.

Re: Lotus C-01

The transparent body was broken due to fall down. So I had forced to print the new one.

I created an addition to the jig to fix the body strictly vertically.

Also some new parts were printed.

Quick assembling with Blu Tack.
