Started a new car .. again..

oh man, I have too many ready to be painted and put together cars standing on toliet paper rolls in my cabinet.. i guess I enjoy ripping up a normal car body and adding/modifying it, prime it, and ready to paint... then I loose interest in finishing it... :o

anyhow, I'm working on a Tommy Kaira Edition Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R

bumper of the car is not too bad, looks pretty agreesive already, but it's a bit low compared to the rest of the body..

so I added some sideskirts and rear skirts

after adding the skirts, I find the front bumper not wide enough, so I had to do some putty work there to make it wider... I haven't decided what type of flare I want yet, so it's still rough putty on there now..

the front side vents are not big enough, so I "made" them bigger too

also .. typical Fujimi quailty, the rear spoiler deck was a bit too bulky, so I had to carve the edges to be more sharp then fitted it on the body for further putty work later..

MAN! You guys put me to shame!

But keep up the good work! The Rear skirts in particular look great.

I have that kit in the Nismo version!
Like you say, pretty rough! I may end up using the aero parts on another Tamiya Skyline!

Going to look good when you are finished.

I dont know how you guys start so many at once.

I like to do one at a time till its all done.
I'd probably do all the easy bits on the kits and then have 5-10 kits all left with the hard bits to do.

Nice project!!! I like the Tommy Kaira Rs

Your skill with putty is unmatched!!!

A couple of models at once would perhaps be ideal, if you could getthe timing right. Finishing the ditails of one while putting down the body paint of the next, so it'll be dry and ready by the time you do the next...

I only do one at a time...

Good work there with the putty. I've only used it light in some of my applications. Most to fill gaps and stuff to give the car a shave look. But you made them skirts look official.

pkw1, do you think we can do some sort of deal, where you send me some putty and that liquid putty you use, and I'll send you something from good old Blighty?
Never seen anything like it here!

My place only had tubes of Tamiya epoxy putty, but that's not what you showed us before, is it?

It's that stuff in the Japanese bottles I liked the look of!
The stuff we have here is too hard to work with!

If you tell me what it is called, I can order it through HLJ, but you know it won't be the only thing I go for!

Here you go Guiddy,

they stopped making the type of epoxy putty that i use for shaping large parts (spoilers, etc).. BUT, HLJ does carry a number of new and "imporved" prouducts

A smooth drying type:

A quick drying type:

as for the tooth paste package putty that I use for for detail work and to fill cracks etc..

and finally, I use the Mr. Surfacer 500 and 1000 in bottle form to creat the smooth surfaces of the body kits etc.
just search under the name Gunze Sangyo in HLJ, they have a lot of other "Mr." products that are does wonders

What would be the best to use in the door lines on a body. We can get all them here.

The stuff i always use seems to shrink after a long time.
Its called *squadon fast drying putty*, i use it because it dries in 30 minutes ready for sanding

The Volvo i just done a few months ago(the drag car) has started to show signs of the putty shrinking and the lines you can see in places again ...SO I'M GOING TO HAVE TO PAINT IT AGAIN

When I used to build, I used Testors putty. It never shrank or cracked on my. Left things nice and smooth. Not sure if you can get it though.
