Not As Fast As They Say?
I was on my way home today from class and I happend to see a friend of mine pull out of a parking lot behind me. He has a Mustang GT (99) auto that is chipped (not sure is worth its weight). We decide to get off on a nice road to do a few runs and the first one we start off at about 20mph and to my surprise I get the jump to about 1/2 a car ahead and hold it up to about 80. Second race, same start but this time I ended up about a full car ahead, agian to my surprise. He gets next to me and told me he had trouble hooking up at first so we went a third time and I got just a slight jump ahead (maybe 4 feet) and agian stayed at that until about 80 agian. I know he auto but even still, I expected a steady pull away from the Mustang. Sharp looking car though with a tastefully done body kit.

Nice race! I think your car has some mods that you dont know about , cause i dont think mine would have ever kept up with that generation gt! You should get that on video next time

Re: Not As Fast As They Say?
Yeah, but auto GT's are slower. However, I thought he would still be able to take me fairly easy. I would love to get it on video but almost 100% of my races are when I am by myself, without my videocamera, and I just happend to run into a race. Maybe his car is starting to get worn down some too as he does tend to drive his Stang pretty hard.

I don't know but next time I see him, I will ask him if I remember. I really love the sound of those 4.6's though. When he punched it and we were neck and neck, that motor sounds pretty stout.

Re: Not As Fast As They Say?
I guess anything can happen on the street. I don't think that a chip did much on the mustang honestly. Maybe if there are lots of mods than the chip might have some effect but other than that its sort of worthless. That auto trans is not any help for the car though. It sort of sucks the life out of the car.

Either the SL is some sort of a freak, or that Mustang has seen better days.
