Zakspeed 891, Hasegawa, 1/24
Hi,
I guess there is no plastic injection kit of a less successful car available, than the Zakspeed 891 from Hasegawa. It's often said that a car that looks fast, will be fast, but that was not the case here; I really like the lines of the car, it looks nice, but it was not helped by the underpowered and unreliable Yamaha engine, so it got past pre-qualifying only two times. In both cases Schneider managed to get the car on the grid, but it always ended in a DNF. I like the kit, I got the recent reissue, the poison decals are available in both cardinal directions, easy to build except for the wings, which are rather fragile; but in 1/24 the wings are too thin for me to fix them with rivets. Painted with TS8, 26 and 29 from the airbrush, Mr. Super Clear on top. I added the usual belts, wires and some self adhesive foil as heatshield. Hope you like it.

Great build!
I agree, this Zakspeed F1 car looks fast, but wasn´t competitive at all. Best thing was that Bernd Schneider stepped over to Mercedes in the DTM and Zakspeed followed as well. Both proved to be forces to be reckoned with there. |

Very nice build indeed! I really liked these Hasegawa 1/24 F1 kits, wish they would do some more. Nice to be able to display them side by side with my Group C models.

You have done this car some good credit. It is a wonderful build regardless of scale and the fact it is 1/24 makes it even better. Very clean build, great paint, nice decal application. I guess that makes it a winner here (even if the real one wasn't).
GREAT JOB! Ben |
