Value of 96 Blazer needs engine replaced...

Is it worth it to put an add in the paper to try and get rid of this...

96 Blazer LT S-10

Leather/CD/Cruise/ABS/4x4 all works

Has new transmission...10,000 miles on the tires...new brakes...

But I blew a rod on Sunday and the engine needs to be replaced or rebuilt and I am not willing to do this...

It has about 150,000+ miles

Should I take the $100 from the salvage yard or put an add in the paper for a few weeks to see any takers and what should I ask in return?

Wow, sounds like this truck hasn't been maintained too well.

Originally it is not mine...I decided to drop my Capri off at my parents house in Chicago and was able to take the Blazer which is my sister's car for the winter while she is interning in New York...and no she did not maintain it...however everything but the engine is fine...I just need to know if people are interested in buying it as is or if the salvage yard is the best bet...

Thank you...

I could use the CD player.

Your best bet would be to part it out, you'll make a LOT more than $100.

Thumbs up I would love to...

I would love to part it out but I am what you call a layman when it comes to cars...

I could pull the CD player...probably...but what really bothers me about this car going out is that fact that the transmission is literally 1-2 months old...still under full warranty from AAMCO and as a part would be probably the most valuable thing in there...

Like I said I can get $100 form the salvage yard...

I am looking for anything from $500-1000 because that alone makes it worth it for the transmission and you get the rest of it as well...

Located in Michigan...but again I am not necessarily trying to post it for sale here I am more looking for advice so I appreciate the responses...I guess I'll get it towed tomorrow to my friend's front yard and stick it in as many adspaces as I can find for free or really really cheap...

Yeah if you part it out on say ebay or local newspaper you could do quite well. THen tow the shell to the junkyard when you are done. lol

I wish I could part it out but like I said I know nothing about doing stuff like that...I appreciate the people on this board responding because it's been really helpful...didn't realize there would be this interest...

Thread is being closed.

As the thread starter stated, he wanted to know how much he could get for it.

Now that he knows, this is turning into a sales thread.

PM him if you want more info.

Thread's dead Zed....
