They both look amazing, but when it comes to muscle cars, I'm a stout Camaro/Firebird enthusiast, so I'll go with the Camaro.

Re: Challenger Concept vs. Camaro Concept
i'm not big on the whole retro styling. it was kinda cool when ford did it with the T-bird and the new mustang but now that everyone's doing it i think it's already played out. i thought the whole point of progress and technology was to move forward not harken back to 30 years ago. not to mention it leaves the car manufacturer pretty limited as to how much change you can make to the car on future models.

My first car (bought, and sold right before the muscle car craze hit) was a '70 challenger R/T in go-mango with the black stripes. The new challenger concept captures the spirit of that car so well, i couldnt be more pleased. I have fond memories of my car, and i would buy that thing back in second if i can afford it now. Plus my car was a 383, and i use to wish it was a hemi. And although my second car was an iroc camaro, for some reason i never felt as strongly attacted to it as the dodge. My vote goes to the Challenger!

I like the Camaro because at there at least some design elements that are new, opposed to the Challenger which looks almost exactly like an old one. I doubt I'll be able to afford either, but I'd love the Camaro.

Way to copy Ford guys... Seriously, come up with something new.
Between the Dodge and the Camaro, I like the Camaro, but I think I'd rather whatever the similarily priced Mustang will be over either of them. Im getting kinda tired of the Chrysler/Dodge platform (called LX I think) that they use for almost all of their new cars. I don't like how the Challenger doesn't use a piece of new styling in the entire design, it looks way too much like the old one. The Mustang and the Camaro look like modern interpretations of 60's/70's styling, and that is how I think it is supposed to be.

Re: Challenger Concept vs. Camaro Concept
based just off of whose making the better cars right now, i'd pick the challenger. chrysler and dodge have been making some really good cars with their LX platform. so, while i think the challenger will be the better car, i know that it won't be much different then the charger, 300C, and magnum, which isn't really bad thing because those are all really good cars, but i'm more excited to see how the camaro turns out just because i don't really know anything about it (sorry, run-on sentence). does it share a platfrom with any other cars, or is it all new?

Re: Challenger Concept vs. Camaro Concept
I wonder what the production models will look like. Concept versions are almost always better looking than the real thing. Remember when the enw mustang was a concept? It looked like the 05 but different.

Re: Challenger Concept vs. Camaro Concept
as a person in the design industry i just want to say that there is a big difference in using/referencing/reinterpreting an idea such as "muscle car" and creating something new and yet at the same time in the same vein as the old idea
and taking an old design and rubbing out the occasional line. the thing with the pt cruiser was that it took old design cues and used them in a modern way; it wasn't the same as what was/is done with the current ford gt, mustang and the challenger at the top of the page where it really was just an old design gone through a re-hash. to me, as someone who has also had a lot of restaurant work experience, it equates to selling water to customers at a marked up price. no effort, nothing special, people still buy because of the associated meanings. |
