Clicking Noise While Turning Wheel
Hey Guys! I Just Need Some Sorta Info On What Might Be Going On Here. I Have A 2001 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0 Automatic 40,000 Miles With Abs P/s A/c Cruise Control.
The Problem Is: When I Turn The Wheel I Hear This Clicking Noise That Seems To Be Coming From The Front Driver Side Wheel. Now Here Is The Catch-- When I Leave Early Of The Morning For Work I Do Not Hear It But It Will Start By The Time I Get Ten Miles Down The Road. I Hear This Click When Turning The Wheel In Either Direction But Seems To Be More Noticable When Turning To The Wheel To The Left. Thanks |

Re: Clicking Noise While Turning Wheel
Possibly the bearings are shot, or hub assembly needs adjustment. Just a guess...

If it only has 40,000 on it and you bought it new, did you get an extended warrenty, if you got the premium care like I did on my 02 ranger, then basicly everything is covered, hope this helps.

Had the same thing happed w/a Ranger and a Mazda p/u. It turns out it was the ball joints. My boots were split and was letting moisture in and lubricant out.

Re: Clicking Noise While Turning Wheel
Could be a CV joint boot or a faulty wheel bearing seal.

I have this same problem
I have a 4x4 2001 ranger 4.0 automatic with 44000 miles. It makes clicking noises in both front wheels only when turning. This problem is getting worse as I drive the vehicle and like the origional poster does not start untill I drive for a couple of miles.
Both cv boots are intack and and the shop I took it to cannot diagnose it either, It is probably either bad cv axles or bad hub assemblies, which contain the sealed bearings. I don't want to start throwing parts at this problem seeing as how the hub assemblies are like $600, Did you ever find out what was clicking in your front end? I will post results when I figure this out any thoughts are appreciated... |
