Re: need help with my Eclipse GS
no dont do it.......your motor has potential especially if your going to spend that money on doing that swap.....redo the motor...low compression pistons, rods, bearings, head work, fuel management and a t3/t4 turbo w/ all hardware... one love

Re: need help with my Eclipse GS
The 4G64 takes boost very well. The stock compression is low enough that adding boost is not a problem. the compression ratio is 9.4:1. Pretty good. One guy i know has actually raised his compression by adding 10:1 forged pistons and then boosting and he has the highest whp 4 cyl 3G in the country. 316 whp on 14 psi. And raised his boost to 20 psi with no issues. then he got ran off the road and his tranny got a hole ripped in it. But he had alot of motor work done.
First thing would be to tune the car to get a proper AF tuning session. the stock tune runs pig rich. You can get probably another 10 whp out of just that. The rods for the 4G64 are out of the 2G eclipse 4G63 turbo good for up to 25 psi (but i would not do that). Point is, you can run up to 11-12 pounds of boost on the stock engine, currently being done with the RippMods SDS stage II with an expected dyno of 290 whp. I am figuring for maybe between 270 and 280 whp. In reality with that much power, traction becomes a major issue. FYI, there is a company out of south FL that makes a turbo kit for the 4G64. At 8.5 psi on a stock engine, their kit lays down 264 whp/284 wtq. Accelerated Autosports. http://www.acceleratedautosports.com |
