Supercharger
I have a 91 Century with a 3.3L and i want to supercharge it and am not sure what brand or size, i know there are not any kits for this particular vehicle, and i wish to at least get a supercharger and build it up. anyways i am not sure if i should upgrade the fuel and ignition. i know i need to only run around 4 PSI or less. to keep it from blowing up. any help on brands would be nice. thank you

Re: Supercharger
Forget a supercharger. As far as I know there aren't any supercharger kits for this particular vehicle or engine. You may be able to get a turbo but that is doubtful too.

Re: Supercharger
Unfortunately, there aren't any superchargers available to fit this particular car. The engine isn't made to handle it and it would take a great deal of fabrication to even try to fit one to the engine. The Superchargers on E-bay are junk. Not the Eatons or roots style but the ones that look like a fan motor don't work so don't waste your time or money.

Re: Supercharger
The engine in your car is externally similar to the 3800, but isn't designed to take any mods. If you put even a small blower on it, it will be just that, an engine blower. You will smoke the lower end bearings and grenade the engine. If you really have to have a supercharger, you might be albe to swap in a supercharged 3800 from a 92-94 Park Ave Ultra or Bonneville iwth a bunch of fabricaiton, but you will need a complete donor car that includes the PCM/ECM, wiring harness, motor mounts, etc... The resulting car isn't worth the expense and time it will take.

Re: Supercharger
Your all wrong there is a "super charger" made for a 1995 Buick Century 3.1L find it here http://www.superchargerswarehouse.com/ granted its a electric super charger that only pushes 2.5 to 3 psi but it does work I have it on my 1995 Buick Century. Its been on there for almost 3 years no without any problems. Also if you're looking for internal performance parts for a 3.1L (Cam ect) look here http://www.mantapart.com/2831v6.html you can also find a Throttle Body Spacer by Stillen here http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...S01&c=PE&m=all many of the parts available for a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am/ Grand Prix fit on Buicks. And if you're looking for a Cold Air intake you can find it here http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Per...ake-Kit/17796/

Re: Supercharger
That isn't a supercharger. Just a worthless gimmick.

Rather than the air blower shown in the link, it would be better to run a duct from your AC blower to the intake!

Funny he references parts for a 3100 when the OP was asking about supercharging a 3.3 V6. (two completly different motors). As Rich stated, the 3.3 is very similar to the 3.8, but I am not sure if many parts could interchange. Would the LIM's be swapable? What vehicles were the Eaton M62's used in?

Re: Supercharger
Blackrosetiger,
You state "I love it when people talk about things they have no idea about", and yet everything you listed is for a 3.1L which is a 60-degree GM V-6 where the OP's car is a 3.3L which is based on the 3.8L's 90-degree V-6. So nothing you rambled on about would even fit the OP's car, as these engines share no parts, other than maybe an oil filter... Lastly, do you even know how a supercharger boosts performance? Obvioulsy not, or you wouldn't have bought that POS fan you put on your car and actually believe it's doing anything.

Re: Supercharger
Hi, I've got a 2000 Buick Century in great shape. So, is their no true supercharger for the 3.1 GM v6? The tranny is quite weak in this year. Was rebuilt by GM at 35000. How much gain can you get grom one of these "electric blower deals"?. Would it be best for me to just by a later model Regal GS with blower? THanks
I placed this reply somewhere else also. ThX |
