I need assistance with a wiring harness

I took the cd player and wiring harness out of my truck before I sold it and now I want to put it in my newer truck (same model, so it should just plug in). However I noticed a few of the wires came apart (from where they were connected from aftermarket stereo to new wiring harness) and I need help figuring out which one's go together. I didn't install this in the truck and I don't have a lot of knowledge on these things. I noticed that some of them have electrical tape on them so they were probably connected before, but I wonder if some were not needed/not connected.

Here's what I have that are not connected:

from the stereo:
white with silver bands
yellow with silver bands
orange with silver bands

from the harness:
orange (no exposed wire/not used before)
orange with white stripe (has electrical tape/likely used earlier?)
white (tiny bit of exposed wire)
yellow (tiny bit of exposed wire)
dark blue (has electrical tape)

on the receiver it has the diagram:

shows YELLOW is the battery (there is only the 1 yellow wire---with silver bands)

shows ORANGE w/ white line is the illumination (there is only 1 orange wire---with the silver bands AND white lines

shows WHITE is the front speaker - left channel

I just noticed that the silver bands don't really mean anything, sorry I included them

Re: I need assistance with a wiring harness

seems obvious to me that white goes to white, yellow to yellow, and orange to orange...correct??? what is the blue wire from the new harness?

I'm guessing that the reason a couple wires have very little exposed wire is because over time they likely broke off?

do NOT match up car harness colors to the stereo harness colors - they typically are not color matched.

Re: I need assistance with a wiring harness

here's what i've got that are NOT connected. This unit worked when removed from my truck. Now 3 of the wires have disconnected.

from the harness I've got
ORANGE, BLUE, YELLOW, WHITE, & ORANGE W/STRIPE

from the receiver I've got
WHITE, YELLOW, & ORANGE/ STRIPE

how else would I know which to connect?

Re: I need assistance with a wiring harness

Headunits are pretty much standardized
Yellow = constant 12V
Red = Switched 12V
Black = ground
orange w/wt stripe = lighting (dims headunit when lights are turned on)
blue = auto antenna
blue w/wt stripe = turn on for amps/processors

You will have to figure out with a multimeter what those wires correspond to in the cars harness.
