What do i do when theres no ignition wire?

i got a 89 volkswagen fox... i know exaclty how to hook up my after marked head unit, but i was looking around, and there wasent a 12v ignition wire. And im not really sure if the car dident even come with the ignition wire, and if someone could help me find out a way to hook one up out of the fuse box... that'd be awesome. Thanks

are you just hooking up a headunit? if so you want a 12V accessory and constant wire, you need to make sure that the headunits power is cut while cranking. You probably don't have access to an ignition wire behind the radio, but it could be like the old jeeps, no accessory or ignition wires to speak of.

If you can't find one, just hook your 12V constant up to the yellow & red wires from the headunit harness. Only problem there is you need to make sure you turn the unit off or you'll drain your battery, might have to take the faceplate off to kill any time display as well.
