Angry Rear end noise

I recently changed the right side axle on a 91 GT 5.0 and also the u-joints and now I am getting a horrible gear binding noise from rear end. I have tore it down 3 times and redone my work and dont know what to check next. Can someone help? Is it possible I need to set end play on pnion shaft? It is a 8.8 inch posi rear end,

Normally you do not have to touch the gear set up at all.

What happened to the old shaft? Was it damaged? Is it possible the inner or outer bearings are also damaged?

Re: Rear end noise

You have sent me this note:

I also replaced the bearings. The kid the car belongs to hit a curb and bent the axle wheel plate let me know if you have any ideas.

Unfortunately, I think you may have additional damage. If the axle impact was inwards towards the differential, the axle tube, or lateral, the axle tube may be bent. If the impact was outwards, the differential carrier may be damaged.

Either way, it may be easiest simply to swap the entire rear axle, or at least take it to a shop for a professional diagnosis.

Sounds like carrier bearings...
