Are you sure you don't mean the GTiR pulsar?
Im quite sure the Skyline would have been entered in Local Japanese Rallys, but it would not have been competitive, and I doubt it ever recieved factory surport. (but this is the internet, if Im wrong it should not be hard to do a little resurch and prove it. I recomend www.altavista for searching forgin language sites)

And the Skyline was not the only car to be banned from the Australian touring car series. It was all Turbo 4wd cars that were disallowed entry due to rule changes.
The Siera Cosworths (escorts big brother) were also kicking butt, and infact where a lot more succesfull than the GTR.

i know that the skyline was in the rally but not with nissan but private entries and in the australian races the gtr did go well and the last race sat bathurst (before it got kicked out) thanx to jim richerds famous speech about the crowd been called a pack off assholes ( which was very true) who could they boo one of the best race car drivers in oz plus bo one of the best sports cars in the world?? my to that crowd and the only thing im not too happy about the skyline is that its not full time 4wd and the 4wd is very slow to catch on

The GTR was only ever entered in Bathurst, if I remember right 91 and 92, and of course it won both times.
However it was never used to the Touring car series.
The Sierra Cosworth had however been used for several years before 91, and in 91 and 92. It won Bathurst several times, and the Touring car title several more times.
It was the combination of both cars devastation of the Big old Aussie V8s that led to the rule changes.

During most of the late 80s, and even in 91 and 92 the old RWD R30 Skyline had been raced along side the V8s and been at a similar level, altough they handled better, they had less speed in a straight line.

And for the Record, Jim Richards got boo'd for two reasons.
The 2nd being he was a Kiwi. However he has since lived in Aussie for long enough, that when he won last month he was properly cheered.

And just because a Skyline has been rallied dosn't make it a great car.
Even Lada's and Trabants have been rallied.
