Which car to choose to buy? (need help quick)

I have to choose between 2 cars within the hour, could you guys help me out?

97 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS Maroon, 61K Miles sunroof, cd player, alloys, etc. $5K

99 Mitsubishi Galant ES Mint Green, 72K, sunroof, leather, 10 Cd changer, $5.7K

and my third choice which isn't really a choice anymore since it was a little out of price range and sold this morning was a 99 Mercury Cougar...

What is the best choice and would the Cougar of been the best choice?

The guy who had the galants works with them and said don't buy American (no cougar) and eclipses looks nice but are nothing but trouble.

My dad also really likes the Galant and said in a few months he may take it from me and go to an auto dealer auction (bank seized stuff) and get a cheaper car (guy is out of country for a few months now though)

Re: Which car to choose to buy? (need help quick)

Between those choices I'd go with the Galant especially if it is the 6-Cylinder, it seems to offer you the most for your money. I'm assuming you don't plan on doing any tuning, which really doesn't matter because all three cars are horrible options when it comes to tuning, so yeah i think the Galant out of those choices is the best buy. It's a good car to own and decently quick. As far as reliability, none of your choices including the cougar are considered A+ reliability, so that shouldn't really be too big of a deciding factor. Make sure you drive each one also, because your gonna live with this car, so you may want to make sure you'll atleast enjoy driving it day to day. Also take into consideration other factors before making a choice, such as do you drive a lot, do you often have passengers when you drive, is gas really high and a problem. The best car for all these factors I believe out of the three is the Galant.

The Galant might not last as long as the Eclipse and the Cougar. The Galant feels cheaply made and not very durable. It's not a car I expect to still see on the road 10 years from now. The Cougar has a pretty reliable power/drivetrain, 4 or 6 cylinder, but the rest of the car might not hold up as long. Actually, I think ALL 3 cars are nothing but trouble...
