having problems?

My Rover cuts out occasionally but engine carrys on running, but I put my foot on gas full throttle and revs dont get higher than 2000, plus I leave it for half hour to an hour then its fine again any ideas please anyone? thanks

I have seen world of rover are taking scrap cars for free they have a site for this www.scrapyourcar.co.nr
